The Woman on Pier 14 Murder Trial Continues (David in TN on Kate Steinle)

War crime victim Kate Steinle

[Previously, at NSU: “The Woman on Pier 14: The Kate Steinle Murder Trial.”]

By David in TN

In the trial of an illegal alien for the 2015 murder of Kate Steinle, the defense blames it on a Bureau of Land Management officer who had his firearm stolen from his parked car.

Today, a criminologist testified that the trigger of the stolen weapon "had to be pulled."

Well, that's stating the obvious. Judging from some of the comments on these articles, the "homeless immigrant" just couldn't help the darned gun going off on its own.

The defendant claims he found the gun under a seat on the pier wrapped up in a blanket. When he picked it up, it "went off."

By the way, when a street criminal breaks a car window and steals a gun found in a backpack, do you think he just wraps the gun up and leaves it? Isn't this one of the most idiotic lies you've ever heard from a murder suspect? And we've seen and heard plenty of them.

It’s Not Work-Place Violence; Official Response to Today’s NYC Moslem Attack is a Study in Contradictions

A weeping NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio (Wilhelm) insists that New Yorkers are “strong and “resilient”; NYPD PC James O’Neill: Moslem is 29 but “It’s too soon to say” what his nationality is; although cops have no idea if Moslem was a lone wolf, there is no danger, and we should go about our day as if nothing happened, but NYPD will saturate streets with cops, in response to the lack of danger

By Nicholas Stix

Say what you will about Gov. Andrew Cuomo, but he did not come close to crying, or feign weeping at the joint press conference he had with Communist Mayor Bill de Blah Blah Blah. Not crying like a girl is one of the ways a man shows strength and resilience.

The cop who winged the Moslem is being hailed as a “hero.”

I have a different take on this. The authorities have reported that the Moslem had what appeared to be two pistols, but which were in fact a paint ball and a BB gun. The Moslem was brandishing them, because they look like real guns, and he wanted to commit suicide-by-cop. However, the cop who shot him went against his training, and only winged him, because pro-criminal Police Commissioner James O’Neil, Mayor Bill de Blah Blah Blah, and Bronx DA Darcel D. Clark are all presently seeking to railroad NYPD Sgt. Hugh Barry for doing his job, and refusing to permit black nutjob Deborah Danner to murder him.

Fox News’ Rick Leventhal just reported that the police know just who the terrorist is, and wouldn’t say what country he’s from, but amit that he’s from somewhere in the Middle East.

Tens of thousands of people will be in and lining the streets of Greenwich Village in an hour for the annual gay Halloween Parade. Talk about a target-rich environment! But we’re supposed to act as if there’s nothing to fear? Unless everyone goes heavily sedated, you’re going to see the lowest turnout in years, and of those who do show up, you will see a lot of very worried faces.

ABC Eyewitness News operative Tim Fleischer is on the street in Greenwich Village, talking about how heavy the police presence is in Greenwich Village. A voice in the Stix Family compound said, “I thought there was nothing to worry about.”

By Nicholas Stix

Reporters gathered round witnesses, but they didn’t want to know essential information. One white female operative asked a 30-something, indoctrinated-sounding white guy who had come along after the fact, “What did he look like? Was he tall, short?” The “witness” said, “He was a larger man.” That’s pc speak for obese.

The operative didn’t want to know the essentials: What was his race and/or ethnicity?

Another female operative interviewed a working-class white guy, and kept trying to put words in his mouth, and he kept correcting her.

He repeatedly made clear that he hadn’t seen the carnage as it happened, which the female operative kept trying t say he’d said, but he did see victims lying in the street, including a couple that appeared to be dead (something like, “they weren’t here”). He said he heard “nine, ten shots,” and that all sorts of cops ran past him, to the scene where the Home Deport truck had stopped, including ESU (Emergency Services Unit—the NYPD version of SWAT).

In CNN studio: “You have to be right 100% of the time.” (That may have been Jake Tapper.)

Definitely Jake Tapper: “This is a horrific attack. Not to belittle it, but why haven’t we seen more (attacks)?”

“A radical Islamic attack…”

Well, at least he said “radical Islamic.”

Wolf Blitzer then observed that “Allahu Akbar” is often shouted during terrorist attacks, which but then misrepresented the phrase as meaning “God is great.” Correction: It means “Allah is great.”

The terrorist reportedly drove for over 20 blocks the wrong way on a bike path, mowing down riders.

The terrorist reportedly had a fake gun. If that is true, then the “nine, ten shots” that one earwitness heard would have been from the cops.

Bad news: The cops failed to kill the Moslem. They reportedly shot him once in the leg.

Cops have for generations been taught to aim at center mass, in order to immediately put down the threat. Three of the many reasons they have been taught to try and clip violent perps in a leg or arm, is that:

• That means aiming at a much smaller target;
• The danger of a missed shot or ricochet hitting a civilian is much higher; and
• Such a wound will not stop a felon with a loaded firearm from continuing to shoot.

Further, the failure to kill the terrorist means that overwhelmingly white taxpayers will be on the hook for millions for his trial and incarceration.

Update, October 30.

An article about "Santa Claus" appeared in the Austin American-Statesman today. It was lengthier than the KVUE article, but that doesn't amount to much. The AAS article offered interviews with neighbors who heard shooting (or were asleep when the violence happened), but who had no real information to offer. The hosts of the party where "Santa Claus" did his thing are supposedly nice people.

Within the last week, a living baby was discovered in a dumpster at a north Austin apartment complex. The baby survived; it still had its umbilical cord attached. Incredibly, the mother who abandoned the baby was discovered and arrested a day or two later, but was not named or identified in the news. Local news did report that the mother's two OTHER children were taken away from her and placed in protective custody.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — A Virginia driver is dead after a 12-year-old “jumped from the Cedar Lane overpass” in Fairfax County and landed on a car heading eastbound on I-66, police say.

The 12-year-old fell from the overpass and landed on a Ford Escape being driven by Marisa Harris, 22. Harris was “incapacitated” by the impact, and her passenger, who was not injured, was able to steer the car off of 66, WDCW reported.

Harris died at the scene. The boy who fell off the overpass was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital and treated for life-threatening injuries.

Police are investigating the incident as an attempted suicide.

It’s Communist Hoax Day at TCM! On Monday, October 30, the Red Movie Channel Presents Anti-Communist Movies from the 1950s, Including a Morning Double-Feature of Classic, Anti-Communist, Films Noir

Frank Lovejoy and Dorothy Hart, in I Was a Communist for the FBI

On Monday, October 30, TCM is showing several anti-Communist films from the late 40's and early 50's. I think they call it "Red Scare Day" or "Anti-Communist Witch Hunt Movies."

Only the best for Communist labor leaders, in I Was a Communist for the FBI

Two are anti-Communist Films Noir which are worth seeing. I Was a Communist for the FBI (1951) stars Frank Lovejoy as a Pittsburgh steelworker (based on real-life Matt Cvetic) who infiltrates a Communist union. There are scenes in which the Communists plan demonstrations designed to provoke violence. Sound familiar?

I Was a Communist for the FBI is relevant today and shows at 9:45 a.m. ET on Monday, October 30. The TV series I Led Three Lives was a spin-off from this film.

At 11:15 am ET on Monday, TCM shows The Woman on Pier 13 (1950), starring Robert Ryan and Laraine Day. Ryan, a very left-wing actor in real life, plays an ex-communist VP of a shipping company, who is being blackmailed into rejoining the party in order to work to undermine his company.

The Laraine Day character's naive brother (John Agar) falls for a Communist femme fatale played by Janis Carter. William Tallman (a frequent Noir bad guy) plays a Communist contract killer.

The Woman on Pier 13 (aka I Married a Communist) was produced by Howard Hughes, as was I Was a Communist for the FBI.

N.S.: I spoke of Communist Hoax Day, because one of America’s most enduring myths is that there was a “Red Scare”/“Communist Witch Hunt” during the 1950s. What there was, was an awareness of Communists’ infiltration of America’s institutions, and a popular revolt against it.

TCM, of course, was founded by Ted Turner, who is either a communist, or a socialist so far to the left, that the issue of whether he is a Red is a distinction without a difference.

Correction, Monday, October 30, 2017, 1:48 a.m.: Forget the postscript below; I misread the schedule at TCM. I rarely go there.

Postscript: There are two, mutually contradictory TCM schedules for tomorrow.

The October schedule displays no anti-Communist movies for tomorrow, while the pages for I was a Communist for the FBI and The Woman on Pier 13 both have the respective pictures showing at the times David gave. I’m guessing, TCM changed its schedule, once the month began.

The Swedish Stooge: The Most Outrageous Race Hoax in the History of Academia is Now Largely Forgotten and Unread, but Its Influence is Unwavering

Re-posted by Nicholas Stix

According to “demon researcher” (George S. Schuyler) Zygmunt Dobbs, Gunnar Myrdal was a socialist figurehead, a stooge, who was hired to nominally edit An American Dilemma, which had already been written without his help, because although Myrdal knew nothing about race in America in particular, or America in general, he was known as a talented snake-oil salesman who was able to promote hardcore socialist policies to the Swedish public, as if they were populist reforms.

Sowing the Seeds of Destruction: Gunnar Myrdal’s Assault on America

Jared Taylor, American Renaissance, April 1996

An American Dilemma, written by the Swedish economist, Gunnar Myrdal, is unquestionably the most influential book ever written about race relations in America. Published in 1944, this 1,400-page treatment of “the Negro problem” went through 25 printings — an astonishing record for a heavily academic work — before it went into a second, “twentieth anniversary” edition in 1962. It influenced presidential commissions and Supreme Court decisions, and established rules for public discussion about race that endure to this day. More than any other book, it laid the groundwork for integration, affirmative action, and multi-racialism, and destroyed the legitimacy of white racial consciousness.

Although the title is as famous as ever, virtually no one now reads An American Dilemma. Partly this is because its exhaustive statistics are out of date, and the legal segregation it set out to eradicate has been gone for 30 years. Another reason is that by today’s standards the book is grossly “insensitive,” not only to Southern whites whom Myrdal obviously despised, but even to blacks whose cause he championed.

Yet another reason no one reads this book may be that it is a gold mine for anyone interested in the ideas that have paved the way for an increasingly Third-World America. Every anti-white cliché is here, as is every excuse for black failure. What is more, Myrdal pronounces them in the starkest, most unsubtle terms. Liberal race policies had not yet been tried. Myrdal had not witnessed their failure and therefore did not temper his language as liberals do today. The result is the clearest possible statement of the calamitous ideas that have shaped the last 40 years.

For Myrdal, “the Negro problem” has only one cause. Today he would have called it “racism” or “bigotry” but those words were not yet part of the liberal vocabulary. He writes instead of “prejudice” and “discrimination,” and this is perhaps his key passage:

White prejudice and discrimination keep the Negro low in standards of living, health, education, manners, and morals. This, in its turn, gives support to white prejudice. White prejudice and Negro standards thus mutually ‘cause’ each other.
In other words, whites degrade blacks and then point to their degradation as justification for degrading them. Myrdal saw several ways out of this vicious cycle. If whites could be cured of prejudice, they would not oppress blacks so much, blacks would improve themselves, and their example would further cure whites of prejudice. Alternatively, the government could take measures to improve the circumstances of blacks, which would reduce white prejudice, which would permit blacks to improve themselves still further. Myrdal devotes an entire appendix to this “principle of cumulation,” whereby even the smallest improvement will constantly magnify itself.

For this to work, though, blacks must be, aside from their oppression, no different from whites. Although anthropologists had been promoting this egalitarian view since the 1930s, Myrdal was the first prominent economist to write that discrimination rather than low intelligence caused black poverty. Myrdal knew this claim was central to his argument and repeated it throughout the book.

“Social research,” he says, is “constantly disproving inherent differences and explaining apparent ones in cultural and social terms.” He cites the assertions of Franz Boas and his disciples (but offers no data) to discredit conventional views about racial differences in intelligence and temperament: “[T]he popular race dogma is being victoriously pursued into every corner and effectively exposed as fallacious or at least unsubstantiated.” As a result, “the undermining of the basis of certitude for popular beliefs has been accomplished.” Myrdal was sure that science was on his side, and voices a complaint that is, ironically, echoed in the pages of AR — that there is a “wide gap between scientific thought and popular belief.”

The difficulty, he says, is that unlike biological differences, the cultural explanation is just too much for rubes: “It requires difficult and complicated thinking about a multitude of mutually dependent variables, thinking which does not easily break into the lazy formalism of unintellectual people.” We can be optimistic, though, because “white prejudice can change . . . as a result of an increased general knowledge about biology, eradicating some of the false beliefs among whites concerning Negro racial inferiority.”

Already in 1944, Myrdal sensed the demise of theories about racial differences: “Most of them never reach the printing press or the microphone any more, as they are no longer intellectually respectable. The educated classes of whites are gradually coming to regard those who believe in the Negro’s biological inferiority as narrow-minded and backward.”

The better class of whites now understood that “the Negro problem in America represents a moral lag in the development of the nation,” and this was, in fact, the American dilemma. Blacks were in every respect the equals of whites, yet were treated as inferiors. This injustice was particularly jarring in the United States because it violated what Myrdal calls “the American creed” of equality.

Why did Americans persist in violating the creed? In the South, Myrdal discovered elaborate mechanisms of racial separation that he called the “caste system.” He notes that although caste rules govern virtually all contact between blacks and whites they serve one central function: to keep blacks from marrying or having sex with whites. In both the North and the South Myrdal found a universal revulsion among whites for miscegenation and the “amalgamation of the races” that this would bring. In virtually all the states, this revulsion was reflected in laws that forbade interracial marriage.

Myrdal scoffs at this. He even “jestingly argues” that amalgamation “might create a race of unsurpassed excellence: A people with just a little sunburn without extra trouble and even through the winter; with some curl in the hair without the cost of a permanent wave; with, perhaps, a little more emotional warmth in their souls; and a little more religion, music, laughter, and carefreeness in their lives.”

Myrdal never even accepted white opposition to amalgamation as genuine. With no data to support his view, he insisted that opposition was nothing more than a pretext for keeping blacks out of economic competition. He went on to call it “an irrational escape on the part of the whites from voicing an open demand for difference in social status between the two groups for its own sake.” Whites, he said, have a purely tyrannical desire for supremacy, but claim that they are trying to prevent miscegenation.

What, then, underlies the desire for supremacy? Myrdal claimed to understand white Americans better than they understood themselves: “Without any doubt there is also in the white man’s concept of the Negro ‘race’ an irrational element which cannot be grasped in terms of either biological or cultural differences . . . In this magical sphere of the white man’s mind, the Negro is inferior, totally independent of rational proofs or disproofs. And he is inferior in a deep and mystical sense.”

The Vicious South

This form of mysticism was particularly prevalent in the South; some of Myrdal’s comments about Southerners beggar the imagination:

[It would be correct to say that] the white South is virtually obsessed by the Negro problem, that the South has allowed the Negro problem to rule its politics and its business, fetter its intelligence and human liberties, and hamper its progress in all directions . . .

The issue of ‘white supremacy vs. Negro domination,’ as it is called in the South, has for more than a hundred years stifled freedom of thought and speech and affected all other civic rights and liberties of both Negroes and whites in the South. It has retarded its economic, social and cultural advance. On this point there is virtual agreement among all competent observers.

White Southerners are prepared to abstain from many liberties and to sacrifice many advantages for the purpose of withholding them from the Negroes.

These charges — that Southerners are obsessed with blacks, that obsession retards progress, that whites deny themselves liberties in order to withhold them from blacks — are tossed off without elaboration or substantiation.

Although Myrdal conceded that by the time he studied race relations lynchings were unusual and widely condemned, he finds great significance in them:

The South has an obsession with sex which helps to make this region quite irrational in dealing with Negroes generally . . . The sadistic elements in most lynchings also point to a close relation between lynching and thwarted sexual urges.
Oddly, he thought that Southern Christianity was partly to blame for lynching:
[Another factor is] the prevalence of a narrow-minded and intolerant, ‘fundamentalist’ type of Protestant evangelical religion. Occasional violently emotional revival services, and regular appeals in ordinary preaching to fear and passion rather than to calm reasoning, on the one hand, and denunciations of modern thought, scientific progress, and all kinds of nonconformism, on the other hand, help to create a state of mind which makes a lynching less extraordinary.

Of course, lynching was part of the “amazing disrespect for law and order which even today characterizes the Southern states in America and constitutes such a large part of the Negro problem.” Thanks to this lawlessness, “a white man can steal from or maltreat a Negro in almost any way without fear of reprisal . . .” This is part of a long tradition: “[A] main way to get and remain rich in the South has been to exploit the Negroes and other weaker people, rather than to work diligently, make oneself indispensable and have brilliant ideas.” Exploiting blacks is apparently known as “mattressing the niggers.”

Myrdal writes that although Southerners claim to understand blacks, this is “one of the most pathetic stereotypes in the South.” On the contrary, the Southern white is willfully ignorant: “The ignorance about the Negro is not, it must be stressed, just a random lack of interest and knowledge. It is a tense and highstrung restriction and distortion of knowledge, and it indicates much deeper dislocations within the minds of Southern whites.”

Mental dislocations characterize Southern politics: “[F]ear of the Negro shadows every political discussion and prevents the whites from doing anything to improve themselves.” This, says Myrdal, results in “an amazing avoidance of issues in Southern politics.” Debate is one-sided: “Even at present the South does not have a full spectrum of political opinions . . . There are relatively few liberals in the South and practically no radicals.” He describes Southerners as the only true reactionaries in the developed world; their goal is “to accept the static state as ideal and to denounce progress.”

What little hope there may be is found in Southern liberalism, which he finds “beautiful and dignified.” As for its proponents, “they are the intellectuals of the region and are responsible for a large part of the entire high-grade literary, journalistic and scientific output of the region . . . They are, indeed, the cultural facade of the South.” This “gives to liberalism in the South a flavor of intellectual superiority. . .”

Victims of Discrimination

As these passages suggest, whenAn American Dilemma turns to analysis, its subject is whites rather than blacks. This is consistent with Myrdal’s view that “the Negro problem” begins and ends in the minds of whites. Without discrimination, blacks would be perfectly ordinary Americans, so it is only whites who must be dissected and denounced.

The descriptive passages, on the other hand, are largely of the circumstances of blacks, with detailed accounts of agriculture, education, the professions, social life, criminal justice, government employment, black churches, protest movements, and much more. Myrdal finds a great deal among blacks that is unpleasant, even “pathological,” but he always has explanations: slavery, Jim Crow, and discrimination.

If blacks riot it is because their just resentments have boiled over. Blacks have been given a place in popular music but “have been greatly hampered in more serious music.” Violent crime is a reaction to Southern lawlessness. Slavery broke up the black family. Discrimination causes poverty — and prostitution, drug addiction, even bad manners and anti-white crime.

What is striking about these arguments is not that Myrdal made them — in the pre-civil rights 1940s they were powerful and persuasive — but that people make them today. This habit of trotting out white wickedness to explain every form of black failure is one of the most persistent and destructive elements of liberal thinking. Myrdal was its most influential progenitor.

On the other hand, it may have been Myrdal’s confidence in his explanations for black deviance that allowed him to write about it with candor that would today be called “racist.”

“[M]any Negroes, particularly in the South, are poor, uneducated, and deficient in health, morals, and manners; and thus not very agreeable as social companions,” he writes. Any given black is “more indolent, less punctual, less careful, and generally less efficient as a functioning member of society.” He notes that blacks are more likely to be repeat criminals, and that “Negro criminals have become more addicted to crime and less corrigible.”

Myrdal finds black thought narrow and sloppy: “Negro thinking in social and political terms is thus exclusively a thinking about the Negro problem . . . Particularly in the lower classes, and in the Southern rural districts, the ideological structure of Negro thinking — even in its own narrow, caste-restricted realm — is loose, chaotic and rambling.”

He also notes the hypocrisy of middle-class blacks who denounce segregation but profit from the monopoly business of serving black customers. He also writes that much as blacks may claim to be proud of their race, they often describe themselves as lighter-skinned — and never darker — than they actually are. He observes that successful black men invariably marry light-skinned women.

Although many authors praise the black church, Myrdal was repelled by black worship services and writes disapprovingly of “rolling in a sawdust pit in [a] state of ecstasy, tambourine playing, reading of the future, healing of the sick, use of images of saints, footwashing, use of drums and jazz music, etc.” “These ‘rousements,’” he goes on to say, “bring most of the congregation into some degree of ‘possession.’” “There is a tendency to emotionalize the collection so as to elicit more money.”

Preachers are worse than congregations: “The chief prerequisite for becoming a minister in most of the denominations to which Negroes belong is traditionally not education, but a ‘call’ which is more often the manifestation of temporary hysteria or opportunistic self-inspiration than of a deep soul-searching.”

Myrdal doesn’t see much use for church at all: “The small upper class of Negroes tends to belong to the Episcopalian, Congregational, and Presbyterian churches, since for them a main function of church membership is to give prestige.” Furthermore, “Negro preachers condemn extra-marital sex relations, but they seldom take any specific steps to stop them because usually so many of their congregation engage in the condemned behavior.”

Even when he is complimenting blacks, Myrdal can adopt a contemptuous tone:

Negroes have acquired the art of enjoying life more than have whites. Because they have no direct background in puritanism, they have taken sex more as it comes, without all the encumbrances and inhibitions . . . The habit of spending a good deal of leisure time out-of-doors, due in part to the over-crowdedness of the Negro home, has contributed to the social pleasantness of Negro life, since being outside involves meeting friends and having no worries about destroying furniture.
Destroying furniture?

Myrdal professes to admire the “wholesome” way blacks entertain themselves while working: “Singing, for example, accompanies all work, even on the chain gang; gambling while working is another example.”

Gambling while working?

Myrdal can’t seem to decide whether black illegitimacy is good or bad. He notes that the black rate is eight times higher than the white rate but adds that “the Negro community also has the healthy social custom of attaching no stigma to the illegitimate child . . .” This means that “the Negro lower classes, especially in the rural South, have built up a type of family organization conducive to social health, even though the practices are outside the American tradition.”

On the other hand: “The over-crowdedness of the homes and the consequent lack of privacy prevent the growth of ideals of chastity and are one element in encouraging girls to become prostitutes.” Myrdal sometimes seems as sex-obsessed as he claims Southerners to be. Indeed, he spends several pages in fascinated speculation about the illicit couplings that gave blacks so many white genes.

Social Engineering

Today, one of the most striking aspects of An American Dilemma is its touching faith in social science. Myrdal writes with much satisfaction about his “scientific” methods and solutions. Rather more ominous is his infatuation with “social engineering.” The following passage is one of the clearest statements imaginable of the goals and tactics of liberalism:

Many things that for a long period have been predominantly a matter of individual adjustment will become more and more determined by political decision and public regulation . . . [T]he social engineering of the coming epoch will be nothing but the drawing of practical conclusions from the teaching of social science that ‘human nature’ is changeable and that human deficiencies and unhappiness are, in large degree, preventable.

This passage, which could have been written by Karl Marx, is worth rereading for its breathless arrogance. Society will make all sorts of decisions for people that they used to make for themselves. Social engineering will then prevent unhappiness by changing human nature. It was, of course, enlightened liberals like Myrdal who would boss us around for our own good. The first project for Americans was to stamp out their pathological attitudes towards blacks and their false opposition to racial amalgamation.

Myrdal’s arrogance leads to contempt for American institutions, especially if they stand in the way of “social engineering.” He writes of the “nearly fetishistic cult of the Constitution” and goes on to complain that “the 150-year-old Constitution is in many respects impractical and ill-suited for modern conditions and ... drafters of the document made it technically difficult to change. . .” Once again he sounds like Marx when he writes, “the Constitutional Convention was nearly a plot against the common people.”

Given that he seems to make no attempt to conceal his politics — he even refers to Eleanor Roosevelt as the President’s “gallant lady” — it is baffling to find an appendix in An American Dilemma on how to avoid bias in social science. Mere description, Myrdal writes, is actually bias because it implies that society cannot or should not be changed. His approach — vastly superior — is to analyze rather than describe, and to do so with the clear intent of transforming society. Unlike many who followed him, he was at least honest about his goals, yet he makes the astonishing claim that his analysis was unbiased:

In a particular problem where public opinion in the dominant white group is traditionally as heavily prejudiced in the conservative direction as in the Negro problem, even a radical tendency might fail to reach an unprejudiced judgment . . .

Just as remarkable is another appendix called “A Parallel to the Negro Problem.” He argues that men oppress women just as whites oppress blacks, and predicts massive social transformation. Myrdal concludes that the Soviet Union is perhaps the only country in the world to get sex roles right.

Without Opposition

Why, though, was the Myrdal vision of race able not only to sweep everything before it but prepare the ground for all the other “liberation” movements? One reason, undoubtedly, was selective reporting, combined with repeated assertions of moral superiority. But there is another reason that Myrdal himself unwittingly suggests. He notes that even the most conservative whites rarely defend segregation personally, but say that “community feeling” or “tradition” requires it. He says this about the reasons for white solidarity and the evidence for racial differences:

They live a surreptitious life in thoughts and private remarks. There we have had to hunt them. . . When they were thus drawn out into the open they looked shabby and ashamed of themselves. Everybody who has acquired a higher education knows that they are wrong.
He then adds the very interesting observation that the white man “does not have the moral stamina” to codify and defend a system based on explicit racial differences.

Those who would promote white consciousness today face the same obstacles. The Myrdal vision triumphed because there was no thoughtful, moral argument to oppose it. Many conservatives were ashamed of their views and afraid to voice them. Compared to maintaining segregation, the goal of preserving a people and a way of life should, by anyone’s terms, be morally irreproachable. And yet hesitancy, shame, and fear of opprobrium are still the greatest obstacles to the pursuit of legitimate white interests.

It is for this reason that the expression of group interests, which for others is simply a matter of stamina is, for whites, a matter of moral stamina. The Myrdal vision succeeded because it harnessed, in a dangerously deluded way, the moral energy of whites. Only by directing that energy toward their own survival will whites break the shackles that Myrdal and his followers forged for them.

12-Year-Old Felon Pioneers a New Kind of Murder, but Will State Cops “Disappear” It?

Re-posted by Nicholas Stix

One may only hope the killer dies of his wounds, since otherwise he will get away with murder, in addition to being rewarded with anonymity. Bleeding hearts, who care not a whit for his victim, will say, “But he didn’t know what he was doing. Young people only mature neurologically by the time they’re 25.”

Yes, they actually have unmitigated gall to say that. But they only do when they are sure they are providing cover for black or Hispanic psychopaths. They screamed for Dylann Roof’s blood, ignoring the fact that he was only 21, when he murdered nine black church parishioners in Charleston, South Carolina. (That “25” stuff is a fairly recent bit of social b.s. passing for “science.” Of course, the same people don’t call for changing the age of majority, or the voting age to 25. That wouldn’t be politically expedient.) The killer knew exactly what he was doing.

When they know the perp is a sexually normal, white male, they say, “Throw the book at ‘em!”

By the way: Since this story is out of Fairfax, Virginia, it has to have come from a national news service, or local Virginia news organization. Aliza Chasan is a WPIX-TV news producer, and thus could not possibly have gathered this news on her own. New organizations do that all the time, taking a story from a different organization, and putting one of their people’s name on it.

Correction for p.c.: “Police say a 12-year-old boy jumped from an overpass above Interstate 66 in northern Virginia and fell onto a car, killing the driver” should read,

Police say that, in a carefully timed maneuver, a 12-year-old boy leaped from an overpass above Interstate 66 in northern Virginia onto a car, killing the driver.

Aliza Chasan, or whoever the real author of the story is, tried to make the boy’s murder sound like an accidental death. Then again, in this age of fake stats, it’s possible that the Virginia State Police were the liars. In the age of fakestats, every murder police falsely define as an “accident” or “suicide,” permits them to reduce the official murder stats.

FAIRFAX, Va. — Police say a 12-year-old boy jumped from an overpass above Interstate 66 in northern Virginia and fell onto a car, killing the driver.

The incident took place Saturday afternoon in Fairfax County. Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller said in a statement Sunday afternoon that the boy landed on a Ford Escape and the impact incapacitated the vehicle's driver.

The statement says the front-seat passenger steered the vehicle off the interstate and the car came to a stop on the left shoulder.
Geller says the driver of the Ford, 22-year-old Marisa W. Harris of Olney, Maryland, died at the scene. The front-seat passenger wasn't hurt.

The boy was taken to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

USA Today Deceives Readers Looking for Balance on White Lives Matter Rally

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) - After a morning rally in Shelbyville, close to a thousand counter-protesters showed up in Murfreesboro ready to meet members of the League of the South and other groups this afternoon. Fortunately, for the community, most of them did not show.

[English translation: After a morning rally in Shelbyville, close to a thousand Communist rioters showed up in Murfreesboro planning to maim and murder members of the League of the South and other groups this afternoon.]
"We couldn't have Charlottesville happen again," said Jennifer Edwards.

[Who is Jennifer Edwards? Well, I found out, no thanks to WKRN operative Brett Martin. Why, she’s a racist, Communist, would-be rioter!

After weeks of preparations, Shelbyville and Murfreesboro were gearing up for the worse [sic] and hoping for the best.

"Tensions are kind of high right now. People are just walking around right now, angry and upset," explained Deionte Ewing.

[“Angry and upset” about what? Because they missed out on their planned riot? And who is Deionte Ewing? He’s apparently a black high school or college football linebacker.]

People began filling the streets around the courthouse early on Saturday.
"People are trying to come out together. You see all the different signs instead of it being a hate thing," said DemeshriAnna Davis.

[Racists are trying to come out together, against anyone pro-white. And just who is DemeshriAnna Davis? Why, she’s a black supremacist, Black Lives Matter activist. I guess it just sort of slipped Brett Martin’s mind to mention that.]

About two hours after the gates opened, the organizers sent a tweet saying ‘Murfreesboro canceled’ and the event was over.

Some say it is a win for the community with a hefty price tag.

"I own property here so I pay taxes so I'm a little bit upset about what is going to happen. This is all overtime for every single officer here," Edwards said.

[Well, they should be happy. And considering that Edwards appears to support the violent, racist Communists, I can’t say I feel any sympathy for her.]

Officers from around the region were deployed and everyone went through a checkpoint.

"The police force was very strict but I'm happy. I knew it was safe, I had no fear coming on the square today," said Edwards.

While there is no official word on the costs in Rutherford County, the price tag in nearby Shelbyville continues going up with the Bedford County Sheriff’s Department at $10,000 already.

"We definitely lost a lot of money which I feel like was unnecessary as well," one counter-protester told News 2.

[So, a racist Communist who had planned on rioting, and thus maiming and possibly murdering pro-white demonstrators, felt like it was “unnecessary” to pay for police. Surprise, surprise! Why on earth would WKRN operative Brett Martin interview and quote her? Because he supported the racist, Communist rioters, natch!]

With officers in tactical gear, snipers on the roof and outside agencies helping, it is safe to say this no show costs the city and county a pretty penny.

[What on earth were the snipers going to do? Shoot the pro-white demonstrators? We know they weren’t going to shoot any Communist rioters.]

"All these businesses lost so much revenue for nothing," said Edwards.

[Not for nothing; they lost it for you, Miss Edwards.]

Portis/Mirotic Update: Mirotic Says “It's him or me.”

(CHICAGO TRIBUNE) The mess that is the Bobby Portis-Nikola Mirotic saga continued Thursday.

As has been the case since Portis drew an eight-game suspension for breaking two bones in Mirotic's face and causing a concussion with an Oct. 17 practice punch, it overshadowed the on-court happenings as the Bulls avoided their first 0-4 start in 10 years with a 91-86 victory over the Hawks.

[Correction: Bobby Portis did not hit Nikola Mirotic with a “practice punch.” Rather Portis slugged Mirotic during practice.]

First, coach Fred Hoiberg said Mirotic didn't get cleared via the league's concussion protocol after visiting a specialist on Wednesday.

Then, sources said Mirotic's camp has made clear to management that Mirotic wouldn't veto a trade, a change of heart for the forward who long has professed his and his family's desire to remain in Chicago. Mirotic has the right to veto a trade because the two-year, $27 million deal he signed in restricted free agency has a team option on the second year.

[“A change of heart.” That’s a disgusting way to put it. Maybe getting beaten almost to death by a racist black “teammate” had something to do with that. Ya think?]

Whatever happens, this development speaks to the widespread belief surrounding the situation that Mirotic and Portis can't co-exist moving forward. [“Moving forward” is a superfluous phrase. “Whatever happens, this development speaks to the widespread belief surrounding the situation that Mirotic and Portis can't co-exist.”] In fact, one source said the situation is playing out toward a "me or him" trade demand.

Mirotic can't be traded until Jan. 15.

GRA: The way this is starting, with the Bulls getting on Mirotic's case about concussion protocol, is not a good sign for Mirotic. If the Bulls choose to keep Portis over Nikola, I will drop them as a team to root for. I loved the Bulls since 1970, when they had a great team consisting of Jerry Sloan, Norm VanLier, Tom Boerwinkle, Chet Walker and Bob Love. Some lean years after they moved on, but by 1984, it was Jordan time. If they keep Portis I will wash my hands of them—EASILY.

N.S.: I’d like to see Mirotic hit both the Bulls and the NBA with a civil rights lawsuit for oh, about $100 million. I know it’s not happening, but a fellow can dream, can’t he?

Associated Press Operative Julie Pace Has Won the Duranty-Blair Award for Journalistic Infamy

By Nicholas Stix

At circa 6:42 p.m. tonight, on a panel discussion on Bret Baier’s Fox News show, Julie Pace asserted, regarding the fake “Russia collusion” investigation of Donald Trump, much of whose steam was generated by the discredited “Steele Dossier,” that was fabricated by former MI6 agent Christopher Steele for dirty organization Fusion GPS,
“This investigation does not exist because of this dossier, it exists because there was Russian interference in the election.”
That was a bald-faced lie, and a desperate, hopeless attempt by Pace, who thereby exposed herself as a Democrat dead-ender, at damage control.

“Russian interference” was a re-branded version of Democrats' original big lie, “the Russians hacked the election.” It evokes the leftwing big lie about “global warming,” which after it was debunked, was re-branded to “climate change.”

My earliest recollection of what I eventually dubbed the Russia Game, came before the election, when a CNN talking head claimed that Russia had planted “fake news.”

The investigation exists as an attempt, begun by the John Doe calling himself, “Barack Obama,” and numerous other Democrats, immediately after the election, to undo it.

Obama lied about the Russians “hacking the election,” for which he had never a scintilla of evidence, “Obama” engaged in brinksmanship against Russia that brought us to the verge of World War III, and tied Trump’s hands diplomatically. “Obama” sought either to undo the election, or make Trump’s election a pyrrhic victory. The fake Russia investigation serves the same purpose. “Obama,” the Clintons, Eric Holder, Loretta Lynch, and their many crime partners should be arrested, prosecuted, convicted and imprisoned. However, I realize that the likelihood is that none of them will be so much as prosecuted.

The Duranty-Blair Award recognizes those journalists whose work embodies the spirit of Walter Duranty and Jayson Blair, two of the most notorious “journalists” in the history of the Fourth Estate. It is no accident that both men worked for the New York Times.

Walter Duranty wrote a series of early 1930s dispatches from the Soviet Union, where he was Times Moscow bureau chief, in which he lied about the Ukrainian Holocaust, in which Stalin deliberately starved millions of Kulaks (farmers) to death, through a man-made famine. Instead of reporting the truth, Duranty reported that the peasants were happy and well-fed, and was rewarded for his lies with a Pulitzer Prize.

Jayson Blair (here, here, and here) was an early 2000s black affirmative action hire, who alternately plagiarized reporters at other newspapers, and fabricated articles out of whole cloth, all for stories set hundreds and even thousands of miles away, while he sat in New York City cafés.

Julie Pace is the third Associated Press opeative to win a Duranty-Blair, following Tom Hays in 2014, and Duncan Mansfield (posthumously) last month.

Previous Duranty-Blair winners are:

CBS News producer Mary Mapes in 2004;

Seven reporters and editors at the New Orleans Times-Picayune in 2006;

ABC News reporter Brian Ross in 2012;

Peter Berger (not the brilliant sociologist), of The American Interest, in 2013;

Murder victim Kedarie Johnson

By Jerry PDX
Friday, October 27, 2017 at 12:56:00 A.M. EDT

When will it stop?! Yet another hate crime! Except the usual agitators are silent on this one, and will continue to be so.

Sixteen-year-old Kedarie Johnson, a transgender male (or is it female?)—
let's just say born male but felt like he was a female—was murdered by two black males, one of whom will be tallied as white by the FBI because he has a Hispanic name.

Jaron Purham and Jorge Sanders-Galvez kidnapped and shot Johnson after pursuing him for a sexual encounter. The only mention that this might be considered a bias crime is this from the article:
“Attorney General Jeff Sessions assigned Perras, a Washington, D.C.-based federal prosecutor who has handled several hate crimes cases, to assist local prosecutors at the trial.”
No mention that this case will be pursued as a hate crime, just that suggestion about Perras. My guess is it's a token move, just in case the LGBTQ community gets worked up, but I don't think they have anything to worry about in this one—the perps also happen to be their allies against the evil white man.

I could find no indication this is being picked up by the national media as a bias crime, no reports of protests or the usual outrage if someone from the LGBTQ community is murdered. Reminds me of the case in Portland, where a Saudi national hit and killed a 15 year-old lesbian girl.

Abdulrahman Sameer Noorah, 21, was driving recklessly and hit and killed Fallon Smart, who was crossing Hawthorne Boulevard in August of 2016.
He was bailed out by the Saudi government and has fled the U.S. As far as I can tell from the news, he's never been prosecuted.

What's most notable is how mute the local “progressive community” was about this; there was barely a peep. As usual, if it's not a white male, they stay silent.

Oh yeah, not to forget Sanders-Galvez will be helpful to the FBI in inflating those white crime stats, since they’ll count him as “white.” Whites just aren't doing a good enough job on their own!

“S--t!”: On Network TV, Another Taboo Falls, but Nobody Notices

By Nicholas Stix
July 2, 2002
A Different Drummer/Toogood Reports

“S—t!” groans ER's "Dr. Mark Greene" (Anthony Edwards), as he tries to get out of bed, only to collapse on the floor. Though a young man, Dr. Greene is dying. A tumor is impinging so on his brain, that like a stroke patient, he has lost feeling and control over one side of his body.

Foregoing treatment that would prolong the inevitable for a few days or weeks, Dr. Greene has chosen to go with his family -- his second wife, Dr. Elizabeth Corday Greene, their newborn daughter, Ella, and his estranged, teenaged daughter, Rachel, from his first marriage -- to Hawaii, to a rented beach house, to die like a man.

Greene's mixed-up, hormone-driven teenager is angry -- at her slutty, neglectful mother, who wasn't much of a parent, even before she left Greene for the judge she clerked for; at her father, on principle; and at the world, because ... she's a teenager. She's also been into some of her father's vicodin. Greene understands the anger, if not the vicodin, as per the saintly side -- but not the only one -- the show's writers had long ago established for his character.

Alternately patient and desperate, Greene tries to get through to the girl, attempting to teach her how to surf and how to drive a stick, all the while telling her stories of her childhood that she had long forgotten -- of how she would drive her mother crazy, by always releasing to the sky balloons she'd just been given, of the song ("Over the Rainbow") he would sing her to sleep with. "Why are you telling me these things?" she whines. "Because I won't be here to tell you."

Finally, Dr. Greene does get through, as you know he will. On his deathbed, his daughter comes to him, with a walkman recording of a New Agey/Caribbean version of Judy Garland's signature song. Rachel puts the headset on her father's head, and leaves the room. Listening to the music, Greene smiles serenely. He is standing on the beach, watching Elizabeth and Ella. He is observing Rachel flirt in the surf with a young Hawaiian boy from a sporting goods store they'd been to. Greene had set up the flirtation, by finding a pretext to bring the family back to the store, after observing the chemistry between the two the previous day. He sees himself standing, all alone in the ER, back on the beach, and finally, alone back in the empty ER, for one last look. And then he's gone.

The funeral scene passes tastefully, wordlessly, in a few images. The producers lured back former cast member Eriq LaSalle (Dr. Peter Benton), which was a nice touch. But there was no appearance by Julianna Margulies' "Nurse Carol Hathaway" or George Clooney's "Dr. Doug Ross."

The show, which aired on May 9, was called, simply, "On the Beach." Perhaps the title was a pun on the beach house death watch, and the end-of-the-world, nuclear holocaust film by the late Stanley Kramer, based on Nevil Shute's novel.

Many of the mavens at Jump the Shark, a web site devoted to marking the moment when TV shows decline (based on an episode of Happy Days), beginning with a desperate ratings ploy, routinely mock the TV institution of the Very Special Episode, but I'm a sucker for VSEs. VSEs are always written for sweeps months -- November, February, and May -- when ratings determine ad rates, but that's no knock on them. Because every show needs the ratings boost of blockbuster episodes, ambitious scripts are written, often by brilliant producer-writers, which at their best, transcend the cliches of a show's ordinary episodes. At their worst, VSEs are reducible to politically correct concepts: A middle-aged character who has been a lifelong heterosexual, has a lesbian affair, and leaps out of the closet, as the LESBIAN AVENGER; a man shoots up a playground, which underscores the need for GUN CONTROL; RACISM (white racism, natch, what other kind is there?) rears its ugly head.

ER's popularity is based on its dramatic weakness: the unrealistic, hyped action of the emergency room, in which the camera cuts between two operating rooms, in which doctors -- sometimes running between the rooms -- try to save patients at death's door. The scenes are chopped up into morsels, to feed the limited attention span of the MTV generation. And when the action stops, too often we get only soap opera.

In my experience, ER's best episodes have been change-of-pace stories that took place away from the workplace.

In the second season, the drowning-boy-in-the-aqueduct episode ("Hell and High Water," episode 2.7, written by Neal Baer) let George Clooney's character, "Dr. Doug Ross" play a solo for the first time. In the sixth season, Dr. Greene's widowed father, Colonel David Greene (played by the great John Cullum), succumbing to lung cancer, spends his last days in his son's apartment, telling the son who now bathes him of how he bathed him as an infant ("Loose Ends," episode 6.20, also written by Neal Baer).

My favorite was what I call the "Route 66" episode ("Fathers and Sons," episode 4.7, written by John Wells). Doug Ross learns of the sudden death, in a head-on collision on a lonely highway in the Southwest, of his louse of a father (who had been played by James Farentino) and the man's girlfriend. In a leisurely journey of the soul, Doug and Mark drive from Chicago down Route 66, including a side-trip to San Diego, where Greene sees his parents, then both alive. Greene's ailing father, with whom he has an uneasy, distant relationship, does not let his emphysema deter him from smoking.

I call this the "Route 66" episode, because of the road the characters took, and because it was surely inspired by the old Herbert Leonard-Stirling Silliphant series (1960-64), which was then a great innovation, and which made stars of the young George Maharis and Martin Milner, and which was accompanied by Nelson Riddle's great, jazzy theme music. Like the ER episode, Route 66 portrayed two youngish, grown men wandering the road. (And if memory serves, when Glenn Corbett replaced an ailing George Maharis, Corbett's character, Linc Case, was searching for the father who had deserted him as a little boy.)

By its continuous nature, the best dramatic TV series -- China Beach, thirty-something, Once and Again, EZ Streets -- can penetrate behind the lines of heavily guarded emotions, and strike deeper into a viewer's heart than can a movie, which is a one-time spectacle. A movie's strength, however, is in its closure. That term, abused and turned into such a cliche by TV reporters, has no place in this life. There is no closure for someone whose loved one has been murdered (think 911), or died in a tragic accident. Ever. However, there are realms in which "closure" rightfully belongs: Dramatic art and religion.

Art and religion have traditionally sought to give coherence and order to our largely incoherent, disorderly lives in this vale of tears. Post-modernism sneers at such a duty, but then, who actually reads academic, postmodern fiction? And today's decadent, activist, liberal churches and synagogues exist as fronts for the Totalitarian Butcher of the Week, rather as homes for the souls who stay away from them in droves. It's no mystery, that the new-old-time Christianity of Pentecostalism is the world's fastest-growing religious denomination.

Popular culture is today often superior to the pretenses that pass for "high culture," because its purveyors remember their job: To tell credible stories with distinctive, fleshed-out characters and climaxes that let viewers experience catharsis, and denouements that bring them back to earth.

But the most popular culture form has its own problem, which often arises as well from dereliction of duty. Artists, whether popular or pretentious, need to make money off of their works. While there is no necessary conflict between commercialism and aesthetics -- a lousy storyteller will find himself without an audience -- too much success can be a bad thing. A successful show will be renewed by its network, even if the show's creative team has run out of gas. And so, instead of coherence, order, and closure, they try ever more variations on the forced opening: So many new characters, you think you're passing through O'Hare; story lines that multiply like fungi; characters that are put through uncharacteristic "makeovers"; and all-pc, all the time. (Recall the Lesbian Avenger. And when the ER character "Dr. Luka Kovac" (Goran Visnjic) kills a mugger, the perp is a white skinhead. What are the odds of being mugged in Chicago by a skinhead?)

And then there is the Michael Michele ("Dr. Cleo Finch") phenomenon: The affirmative action hire who is supposed to broaden the show's demographics -- but doesn't, and get the NAACP off the network's back -- but doesn't, and who is the dramatic equivalent of a "DNR" ("Do Not Resuscitate") order. As one Jump the Shark habitue put it, "This woman (I can't say actor with a straight face), first helped to destroy the best show on TV (Homicide) and now is at ER during its death knell. She is the female Ted McGinley." (Actor Ted McGinley has so often been added to casts just as a show starts to founder, that he is considered at JTS to be an omen presaging cancellation.)

When primetime shows attack, they desperately seek to create buzz -- through pc shtick, which masquerades as "pushing the envelope," when it really is safely inside the new envelope (remember Ellen Degeneres' coming-out party, all the lesbian kisses, and racial profiling story lines?); through skin (NYPD Blue's bare tuchuses and almost bare breasts); and through sex (24's first episode showed two teenagers engaged in simulated coitus on a bed in a furniture store).

But none of this shocks anyone any more. On an episode of Once and Again last season, two teenaged female characters kissed, and, it was suggested, had sex. But no one wrote about the scene, which was not produced to cause controversy, and which did not help the anemic ratings of one of TV's most powerful dramas.

After the ER episode, I checked the New York papers for mention of the farewell episode or the s-word by the TV critics, but found nothing. None of the 28.7 million viewers who tuned in that night, did so because they knew the show would present a character saying a cuss word. And so John Wells, the ER producer who brilliantly wrote and directed "On the Beach," helped make America a slightly less civilized place, while gaining nothing from the obscenity.

I have three different possible explanations why the word was largely ignored, each of which may apply to different media types or groups. 1. TV has gotten away with so much, in the way of foul language and sexual explicitness, that the word was anti-climactic; 2. Some media writers didn't mention it, because they want to see more of the same, and fear that drawing attention to it will lead to a return of standards by an embarrassed NBC; and 3. It created no buzz among youngsters and 20-somethings, because they usually watch cable, where they hear that sort of language all the time.

Had I been in charge at NBC, I would not have let the word pass. It was wrong. With that said, I feel obliged to add that it was the most powerful use of the word imaginable. The character was dying in his prime, his bodily systems shutting down, one by one. But he could have said "damn" or "Oh, G-d!" (My editor pointed out that the latter case could be the greatest blasphemy of all; I am using the word in terms of conventional, blasphemous morality.)

The networks' "standards and practices" departments have always existed to ensure that no "magic words" escape on screen. When I was a child, TV actors couldn't say "Damn!" on air, or even mention that a female character was pregnant. Standards and Practices also made sure audiences saw only separate beds for husbands and wives. Those were the days, my friends. Now, the NBC brass oscillates between complaining about the liberties cable shows take, and seeking to ape them.

(According to TV Tome, producer David E. Kelley also once got away with having actor Mark Harmon say the s-word on CBS' Chicago Hope (1994-2000). And just the other day, I heard Maury Povich say the s-word on his syndicated show.)

Barbara Tranchito of NBC's press office, who is responsible for ER, did not respond to telephone calls and an e-mail, asking what discussions went on at NBC prior to the airing of the episode, what NBC's current policy on obscenity is, and what purpose, if any, the network's department of Standards and Practices still has. Tranchito's young assistants asked if they could help me, but when I mentioned the episode, they had no idea what I was talking about. I suppose they only watch cable. (My experience has been that many network publicists would more properly be called "privatists.")

I suspect that Standards and Practices' main job now is to ensure that the depiction of blacks, Hispanics, women and homosexuals is as dishonest as possible.

Back in September 1976, when I left home for college, one of the going-away presents my mom gave me, was John Steinbeck's Travels with Charley, a non-fiction book about an old man who, nearing the end, hits the road with his trusty dog. How I marveled that Steinbeck could tell earthy stories without resorting to any blue language.

If nothing is obscene, there is no art. For the notion of obscenity presupposes limits, just as the notion of art does. An art work must have structure and discipline, which do not permit anything and everything within its confines. No structure, no limits ... no art. And no structure, no limits, no ... civilization.

Ann Coulter: Has Trump Gone America Last?

Headlines from an Administration that is Not Putting America First

We are now nearly a quarter of the way through the entire Trump presidency -- and, depending how the 2018 elections go, we could be at the halfway mark.

Here are some headlines from that presidency:

"Defying Turkey, U.S. Decides to Arm Kurds in Syria"

"Iraqi Leader, in Washington, Gets Trump's Assurance of U.S. Support"

"Trump Administration Lifts Sanctions on Sudan, Citing Progress"

"Trump Plans Visit to Asia to Buttress Korea Policy"

There are thousands of 'em, day after monotonous day.

In the last 10 months, has a single manufacturing job been created in Trump's America? Has there been one opioid death avoided? Has 1 foot of the wall been built?

No, just more of this:

"Trump Praises Philippine President in Call Transcript"

"Trump's Attempt to End the Saudi-Qatar Stalemate Ends in Recriminations"

Democrats realize that Trump's main campaign issues, immigration and trade, were kryptonite to his opponents. The Democrats, the media, even Republicans threw everything they had at Trump -- a Russian dossier intended to sway the election, an illegally obtained hot-mic tape, 100 percent negative news coverage for 15 straight months.

He still won.

Democrats know how Trump did it -- and, unfortunately, they also know how to use the same kryptonite against him.

You will notice that smart liberals are NOT saying, We need more pussyhats, more angry rhetoric, more Rachel Maddow conspiracy theories! No, the smart liberals are begging Democrats to steal the central components of Trump's death-defying campaign: immigration and manufacturing.

Andrew Sullivan recently wrote in New York magazine: "I don't believe it's disputable at this point that the most potent issue behind the rise of the far right in America and Europe is mass immigration. It's a core reason that Trump is now president." He called the Democrats' sudden decision to treat illegal immigrants as a beloved constituency "political suicide."

Then this week, former Obama administration official Steven Rattner called on Democrats to abandon liberal shibboleths and focus on winning the votes of "white working-class men." Wage stagnation, he wrote in a New York Times op-ed, is "our most pressing economic challenge."

And of course, several months ago, the Democrats' meticulous pollster, Stanley Greenberg, produced a report telling Democrats that, to beat Trump, they need to win back "the nation's working class communities, starting in the formerly industrial states and Upper Midwest."

What does a laid-off steelworker, his town drowning in Mexican heroin, think when he reads daily headlines like these:

"Trump Suggests Bigger U.S. Role in Syria Conflict"

"U.S. Warship Approaches an Island Claimed by China"

Gosh, I'm glad we elected Trump! I haven't been able to sleep at night, worrying about the Syrians and that island claimed by China.

What do the Angel Moms, whose kids were murdered by illegal aliens, think when reading these bulletins:

"As Trump's Peacemaker, Kushner Finds Common Goals, and Friction, in Mideast Trip"

"Trump Won't Move U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, Yet"

Well, we didn't get the wall, but thank God it's pedal-to-the-metal on resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict!

At the end of Trump's term in office, I promise you, the Israelis and Palestinians will not be living in peace and harmony. Kim Jong-un will not have called for democratic elections. ISIS, al-Shabaab, al-Qaida and the Muslim head-choppers du jour will not have suddenly become pro-life.

The rest of the world will still be a godforsaken cesspool.

That's why Trump's campaign slogan to "MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!" was such a hit. Beyond the self-evident attractiveness of a president caring about us, instead of the rest of the world, fixing our country is at least something that's achievable.

Our tender ministrations in Iraq, Afghanistan and 200 other countries Congress is unaware we've even sent troops to has accomplished nothing good, and all too often a lot that's bad.

We haven't been able to get our leaders to focus on America's problems for 30 years. The seduction of foreign policy is too great. War, military strikes, treaties -- if you're president, these are the antidote to whatever ails you! Presidents wear the mantle of national security like an amulet.

Any international conflict means a president can't be criticized abroad. His short-term poll numbers will go sky-high. Even a dunderhead can feel like a master strategist when threatening to deploy the full force of the U.S. military. (See Nikki Haley.)

The rest of the world's problems will never be solved, but it seems so adult and serious to be "working" on them.

We need to go into the Situation Room, sir. The Democratic Republic of Noos Noos has sent a disturbing cable.

Yes, absolutely! Cancel the rest of my day that I was going to spend fulfilling my campaign promises.

If ever there was a presidential candidate who seemed immune to the siren song of "foreign policy," we thought it was Trump. We voted for a reality TV star. We didn't want "gravitas."

Instead, the smart set's contempt for Trump seems to have sent him headlong into a fevered obsession with the goings-on in North Korea, China, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Guam, Venezuela, Afghanistan, Syria, Iran, Qatar, Niger and little Burkina Faso.

No one cares enough to read past the headlines. There won't be any snippy lower court judges issuing frame-worthy rebukes of Trump's travel ban or thousands of women showing up on the National Mall in pussyhats.

So there's peace.

But there will be no change. Not in the rest of the world and not in the country Trump promised to make great again.
